What can I expect?

Opéra Garnier in Paris is also known under the name Palace Garnier. It is famous in itself, but is also known for being featured in the novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux - and of course in the musical of the same name.

Architect Charles Garnier designed this opera house for Emperor Napoleon III, and construction began in 1862, but the project was held up by the discovery of an underground lake onsite.

Outside you see the gold statues and the magnificence of the beautiful building. You're transported into rich elegance as you take a self-guided tour inside. You see the swinging chandeliers, the grand marble staircase leading to its Grand Foyer and a 2000 seat auditorium. Take a moment to admire the 7 ton chandelier, that hangs from the ceiling in the auditorium over all the red seats. Besides seeing the opera house on the inside you also get access to exhibitions, that are open on the day of your visit.
